End of Year Review 2021

As always, we find ourselves at the end of December questioning “Where has this year gone?”  It does not feel like that long ago we were enjoying the previous festive season (all be it a bit different than the ‘norm’) and welcoming in 2021!  It has been quite the year for us here at Isle of Skye Distillers and as 2021 draws to a close, we have been reflecting upon the various events that have occurred over these last 12 months. Tommy's Gin. Lest We Forget.

Every year we come together on Remembrance Day, also known as Armistice Day, to commemorate and honour those that gave their lives to secure and protect our freedom.  Tommy’s Gin (45% volume) was launched in October 2017 in memory of our late father Tommy Wilson.  Lest We Forget.

A MURAL TO RECOGNISE LOCAL ACHIEVEMENTS. Niall Munro (from Birch Café, Portree) started this wonderful mural, painted by his father Donnie, in the centre of Portree featuring the Old Man of Storr.  Inspired by this, we decided that we would like to complete the mural and to recognise a couple of local people whose achievements in both music and Gaelic have really put Skye on the map. We commissioned Iain Smith and Donnie Munro to paint the next two murals of Neist Point and a view from the Quiraing. FANTASTIC NEWS! OUR MISTY ISLE VODKA HAS JUST RECEIVED ITS THIRD GOLD AWARD OF 2021 AND ACHIEVED THE IWSC VODKA TROPHY! We could not be more thrilled that Misty Isle Vodka has just received an Outstanding Gold Award in this year’s International Wine and Spirits Competition (IWSC) after receiving a total score of 98 points. IWSC stated “Misty Isle Vodka is a great example of a wheat vodka with ample depth, balance and character. On the nose white fruit, lemon and vanilla.  The palate is smooth and refined, with grainy sweetness fruit flavours of plum and elderflower.  The finish is beautifully balanced”. Well, what a year that has been. As 2020 draws to a close, it is safe to say that it has been a year of the unexpected.  Looking back, who would have thought that what we knew as the ‘norm’ would all change drastically within a short space of time?  It has been quite a year and we have been reflecting on the last 12 months.
