From Gin to Sanitiser

We have done a fair few interviews since we started our distillery and one of the questions is always: where do you see yourself next year or in three years?

Who would have thought we would be diversifying from Premium Gin to hand sanitiser!

COVID-19 has changed all our lives forever.

When the pandemic hit China, we joked at making hand sanitiser and sending it overseas. We were then hit with a national shortage in the UK and here we are, Kings of sanitiser.

To date, we have donated 1000’s of litres to the Police, Ambulance Service, NHS, care homes and the public sector working at the frontline. But our most valuable donation has been to the pupils and staff of Portree High School. The school is right behind the distillery where we were both pupils, we have fond memories there but doubt the teachers will attest to that! 580 100ml bottles donated that each pupil and staff member. This will help them protect themselves while working hard to teach and learn, shaping our next generation of leaders.

We have also supported Skye Community Response, delivering food in the middle of the night, once a week, all over the island. We have also been installing hand sanitiser stations to Skye, Raasay, Kyle, Inverinate, Glenelg and Stromeferry. It’s been a challenge but the rewarding part is seeing the community spirit, a thing we grew up with but seems to have dwindled over the years, come alive again in the hour of need.

Now back to Gin!
